30 Floors Up Roblox: how to play and the controls

Short answer: pick a saved game, not temporary mode, on the main menu or your run is lost when you leave. Then follow the objective list at the top right. You interact with prompts (pick up, place, drink, eat, lock, push), keep supplies on their racks, and check your notes and the floor map on the building’s map guide. If the game runs badly, switch the graphics mode to automatic.

Saved game or temporary mode?

One guide’s first tip: choose the saved game option on the main menu instead of temporary mode, otherwise the whole run is erased the moment you log off. Players who continued the same building across several sessions (one reached day 25 over two episodes) were playing saved runs. Temporary mode is for a quick look.

What is on the screen?

Element What it shows
Objectives (top right) The current task. The game does not move on without them, so check here whenever you are lost. On a controller, one player opened it with the D-pad.
Bars Hunger, thirst, fatigue and stamina (health)
Health A number; does not refill by itself
Messages Sounds and events in words (“a stairwell door bangs”, “someone taps on a metal pipe”, “the crowd comes tonight”)
Day and time The current day; night falls around the evening hours

How do the controls work?

Everything is a prompt on the object you look at:

  • Pick up / place: carry an item, then place it on a shelf, rack or table. Items you “put away” go into your inventory instead; a small inventory fills up fast (backpacks).
  • Use / drink / eat: hold the item and use it.
  • Lock, chain, peephole on doors (doors).
  • Push / drag: heavy furniture moves with its own command; players who just walked into it moved nothing.
  • Map guide: hold E on the building map guide to get the map of floor 30; your notes collect the notes and clues you read.
  • Survival guide / book: shows how many days your water and food last and sets the ration level (food).

The intro cutscene can be skipped.

Low FPS or bad graphics?

A co-op group found the game running at about 30 FPS and switched the Roblox graphics mode to automatic, which looked worse but ran better. The building is detailed and dark scenes are heavy, so lower graphics quality first if it stutters.

What is the goal?

Survive 100 days, or escape. See how to escape.

Messages the game shows you

The game narrates what you hear in short lines on screen. These are the ones players met most, and what they meant in the recordings:

Message What followed
“Someone is knocking at the entrance” Daniel on night 0; later, other survivors
“Someone taps on a metal pipe” A neighbor (Mara or Arthur Hail) asking for help
“A stairwell door bangs” / “Uneven footsteps in the corridor” Zombies on your floor
“The crowd comes tonight” A horde at your door that night
“Something is dripping in the utility room” A leak: shut the red valve; the heater still holds water
“A paper slides under the door” A note left for you
“Repair the entrance before tonight” Your door is broken: screws and a board

Is the game hard?

For a first run, yes. Guide makers call it one of the scariest zombie games on Roblox because you play an ordinary person who is hungry, thirsty and tired, with no health regeneration. Players who followed the objectives and kept water ahead of the cut lasted weeks; players who fought everything or sealed themselves in were “cooked” in a few days.
